Lecture on Daoist monasteries in the process of early twentieth-century modernization
On March 12, 2009, Liu Xun gace a lecture on "Quanzhen Proliferates Learning: The Xuanmiao Monastery and the Modern Reforms in Nanyang." at the Modern China Seminar, Columbia University.
Liu Xun’s research on the history of the Xuanmiaoguan in Nanyang shows how the Quanzhen monastery took an active role in the political, economic and social modernization in Nanyang (Henan province).
